The Power of Unity

Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. -Acts 4:32

The release of true Holy Spirit power is directly related to the unity of the believers. Jesus prayed for unity in John 17, and He shares with us in Matthew 18:19 that the prayer of agreement knows no limit in its ability to release God’s power. In Acts, unity is the direct result of the Holy Spirit’s filling—“those who believed were of one heart and one soul.”

Human pride is the culprit that divides the Body of Christ. Pride is also a device used by the adversary to thwart the flow of God’s power, which allows for criticism and contention to infiltrate the Church in front of a watching world.

Pride has the same devastating effect in homes. Marriages are broken and children are lost, because loveless pride divides families. True Holy Spirit power melts hearts and brings us to unity in soul. While it does not guarantee a universality of thought, we are joined together in His love and make a way for His unlimited power to move among us.
