Shaking a City

And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. -Acts 4:33

The gathering shook with the power of God, but the intention was to shake loose the city. Charged with supernatural power, the apostles preached the Gospel and confronted the spiritual forces which hold the city in darkness and fear. Though bullied by jailing and threatened by the same power structure that crucified Jesus, they were continually being filled with the Holy Spirit. The revival that began at Pentecost, continued in miracle signs and wonders and reduced the forces of darkness to empty threats before the genuine power of the living Church in action.

The lying threats of the devil are no match for the unmistakable power of the Holy Spirit. Demons may try to intimidate us into silence, torment us with fears and bring despair through circumstances. But we, as Spirit-filled believers in Christ, receive a fresh work of Holy Spirit power each day. Ask for and receive this power. Be renewed for today’s challenge and let the power of Jesus Christ bring “great grace” upon you right now.
