Resting in Jesus

...and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels... -2 Thessalonians 1:7

When the Lord returns there will be a visitation of God’s glory. This glory will consume God’s adversaries and give blessed rest to those who have labored long for Him. In the struggle against evil, amid the sins of a chaotic world and from the hardships of being strangers in a foreign land, God’s people need the rest He will bring.

But we don’t have to wait until He comes to find rest. There is hope today for refreshment in the midst of the grind of our daily pressures. “With stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, ‘This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest”‘ (Is. 28:11, 12).

Living in the fullness of the Spirit until Jesus comes again is the answer to the relentless pressure of today, which seeks to overwhelm us. Live full of the Spirit, worship with your spiritual language and rejoice that Jesus is returning. Our ultimate rest in Christ will come.
