Partnership and Prayer

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. -James 5:16

The Father delights in partnering with us in seeing His will established here on earth. But we recurrently feel at a loss in knowing how to be His partner in the task. This text not only provides us with a key to seeing that partnership confirmed, but also with a tangible example of how it can be practically lived out.

The text declares that “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours” (v. 17). He was not any different from you or me. He just stepped into line with the Father’s plan and earnestly prayed that His will would be accomplished. Elijah’s fervent prayer broke the bonds of drought. Jesus further elaborates, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 16:19). Our responsibility is clear, we pray and He releases.

What needs to be changed in your world today? Bring it to the Lord in prayer and then watch Him release the answer in all of His promise and blessing.
