Kingdom Ambassadors

Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” -Luke 17:20-21

There is an international law concerning ambassadors of foreign kingdoms, that wherever that individual may be authorized as a full representative of his government, he cannot be arrested. It is the law of “diplomatic immunity,” and in essence it says, “Where this person stands—even on foreign soil—he stands in his own land!”

In much the same way, Jesus taught us concerning the presence and power of God’s kingdom in our own lives. Once we have been “born again” and birthed as citizens into the Father’s family and kingdom royalty, we can live immune to the control of the evil powers of darkness who would seek to confine God’s purposes in us.

When Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you,” He was declaring a point we are wise to embrace with understanding. He was not suggesting we have become self-serving gods, nor was He proposing some humanistic mind-science. He was and is saying, “The Father’s ruling might is now within you. It is not distant or unavailable. Take the ‘keys’ I’ve placed in your hands—faith, hope, love, joy, peace, life, strength, healing and apply them.”

In short, as ambassadors, we are assigned to spread the life of the kingdom wherever we go.
