Answering God’s Call

When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. -Numbers 10:9

The Lord’s instruction to Moses was clear, “make two silver trumpets.” One trumpet was to call the people to gather, the other to move forward, usually sounding the advance into battle. “You shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be saved from your enemies.”

A people alerted to danger and aligned for battle are a formidable obstacle for any invading force. God’s people should hear the sound of the Holy Spirit’s trumpet call to spiritual warfare and prepare for a spiritual battle against the works of darkness. Moving in unity and prayer, we are able and empowered to resist the attack of the devil.

The Bible describes another trumpet in Revelation 11:15. This is the last trumpet, announcing once and for all that “the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Lord, come quickly. We wait to hear the last trumpet call of all.
