David’s passion for revival is based upon his desire that people rejoice in God. He is not seeking to rejoice in the blessings of God alone, but in the glory of God’s person.
David was more desirous of the Giver than of the gift. He was more desirous of Father God than the obvious acts of love and kindness shown to him. That is the true essence of revival.
God wants us to love Him, not for what He gives, but for who He is.
