A Worshipping Community

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. -2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NIV

The church of Jesus Christ may be defined as a worshipping community. One of the most fundamental and foundational acts of God’s people is worship. Because God does what He does—saves, heals, restores, renews, refreshes, we are to do what we are to do—praise, adore, give thanks, worship. God has called us to Himself, so we are to respond in worship, obedience, and service.

In our relationship with God, we get our identity. We are the people of God, and because we are His, we worship. By worshipping the one true God, we become who He truly made us to be and are able to our ultimate destiny. Many aspects of this life will be left behind when we enter the next world, but one thing will remain, throughout all eternity, we will continue to worship the Lord. He redeemed us in love and through the work of Christ, who saved us by grace.

Today, let us  commit ourselves to be people of praise. In doing so we link ourselves with the worshipping community in this world and in the next.
