Pastor Jack draws from the book of Nehemiah to teach about the restoration of the human personality after salvation. He explains that while the temple in Jerusalem was restored (representing the restored spirit), the walls remained broken down—a picture of believers whose spirits are alive but whose souls (mind, emotions, will) still bear the rubble of their past. Pastor Jack presents Nehemiah as a picture of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter who comes to lead us in rebuilding the walls of our personality through confession, prayer in the Spirit, and the edifying work of God’s presence.
